I've decided to hit the Chiptune scene Pretty hard... I've bought an old original gameboy, and blank cart and some modding parts. That hard enough?
...I'm planning on making a custom (yellow) beast just for that chip tune goodness! (Like what you see in the picture above!) the idea - for those of you that aren't familiar with what i'm talking about - is that you load up a custom cartridge (LSDJ is the name of the software I'll be using) and instead of it being 'a game' - its a music tracker that lets you create blips and bloops to your hearts content.
pretty hipster, eh? nah... Its just considered one of the tried and tested standards of chip tunes... And plus i'm a big gameboy guy! ...and a secret hipster...
What mods am I planning you might ask! Well... just the very basic ones... Backlit screen and a pro audio line out. Its not something I've ever done before so I don't want to go messing about too much with the internal workings of a beloved gameboy.
This is something that I want to get deep into but its also directly related to a project that I've got going on at the moment. I'm making the music and designing the sound to an arcade like Tower Defence game! I'll share some more details on that some other time...
Until then!
