Just a quick post to show off some of the artwork for the game so far...
Above you can see a sample artwork from each of the four Artists included in the base game... Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Edvard Munch and John Singer Sargent!
Selecting four artists for this was extremely difficult. in the end I decided on going for four artists that offered something different, style wise, colour wise, tone wise, nationality wise and ones that were still considered worthy of their place.
Selecting the artwork varied in difficulty. some artists have staple works that you need to include. what i tried to do in every artist (although not always possible) was to include a portrait, a landscape, a still life and a self portrait... tried to vary the topic of the art - while still highlighting some of their greatest works...
some artists didn't do a self portrait. some artists are famous for landscapes so why would i include portraits they painted... others are famous for their portraits etc, etc. as with any decisions like this, you need outside opinions. no two people will whole heartily agree with the art and the artists that I've included. but thats just art - its a talking point.
